Event Summary

The NHLBI will host a virtual workshop on research priorities in the treatment of mitral valve prolapse on December 12 and 13, 2024.  The workshop will consist of researchers in the field who will review the state of the science and identify research needs and opportunities for the treatment of individuals with mitral valve prolapse, including those who may be at risk for sudden cardiac arrest or sudden cardiac death.

 

Description

Research in the Treatment of Mitral Valve Prolapse 2024 will examine both the clinical and basic science of mitral valve prolapse (MVP), including diagnostic imaging, risk assessment, clinical management, surgical and transcatheter intervention, genetics, and disease mechanism. This 2024 workshop is an update of the 2021 workshop and part of the NHLBI’s implementation of the Cardiovascular Advances in Research and Opportunities Legacy (CAROL) Act.
